In Adversity, Consider

It’s been a while since I wrote, and I may as well continue now that I’ve started. Isn’t that how it goes sometimes? We begin something, then life happens and we pivot. Sometimes we can pick up where we left off and run with the vision placed in our hearts from the beginning.

But other times life hits so hard and fast that we’re no longer the same person who began the journey. We’re becoming someone entirely different. The vision starts to feel like a far-off dream, a distant thought we can’t quite touch. The mind knows too much, the body has endured even more, and the spirit grows quiet because the mind is loud with false stories and pretenses.

That’s when we have to move deeply within and pause. Reflect. Analyze. Consider.

“In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him.”

— Ecclesiastes 7:14

Since God holds both prosperity and adversity, we must learn to trust the character of God in the midst of it all.

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Proverbs 16:9

Here is the key: trust in the character of the One who is Perfect, Faithful, Unchanging, Immovable, Unrelenting in Love, Forgiving, True, Righteous—and the list goes on. You get the drift. You see where this is going.

God has been faithful time and time again, consider this promise:

“…He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6

"The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it." 1 Thessalonians 5:24

Just think on this. Let it settle in. Breathe.

Love & Hugs,

Liana
